Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria in Pork

Years ago there were widespread concerns pork may give you "worms" aka parasitic infection. The pork supply has been tested so rigorously over the last 15 years there is little to no concern worms from invading your intestines.
Consumer Reports just finished collecting data from pork sold in grocery stores and found that a startlingly large proportion of tested meat contained one or more potentially harmful bacteria, some of which showed signs of antibiotic resistance, raising our longstanding concerns about the safety of pork supplies. Nearly 200 samples from major grocery chains around the country reported positive tests.
If you are going to eat it, consumer reports recommends cooking the meat to a minimum of 160 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure the bacteria is killed... this should be your standard practice btw.
The biggest questions our country's consumers need to face from now on: "is organic affordable?"
Simple economics supply and demand will lead retailers to make more affordable and responsible sales. Simply put - quit buying antibiotic-loaded steroid-infested pork and the grocery store will reduce the cost (OVER TIME) of organics due to more and more competition. They stock what we buy you know. Take control of your what is on your grocery isle and take control of what is going in your mouth.
